Health Guidelines And Policy

Health & Medications

At Shri Bhagouti Prasad Memorial English Higher Secondary School (S.B.P.M.), the health and well-being of our students is a top priority. We recognize that maintaining a healthy environment requires the active participation of both the school and parents. The following health guidelines are designed to ensure that students remain healthy and safe while at school.

General Health Practices

  • Regular Health Check-ups: Ensure your child undergoes regular medical check-ups and maintains up-to-date immunizations as per the recommended schedule. A copy of your child's vaccination records should be submitted to the school.
  • Healthy Diet: Encourage a balanced diet that includes a variety of nutrients to support your child’s growth and learning. Provide nutritious snacks and meals, and ensure your child stays hydrated throughout the day.

Illness and Attendance

  • Stay Home When Sick: If your child is experiencing symptoms of illness such as fever, cough, sore throat, vomiting, or diarrhea, please keep them at home to rest and recover. This helps prevent the spread of illness to other students and staff.
  • Notify the School: Inform the school immediately if your child is diagnosed with a contagious illness such as influenza, chickenpox, or COVID-19. Follow the recommended quarantine or isolation guidelines before allowing your child to return to school.
  • Doctor’s Note: In cases of prolonged illness, a doctor’s note may be required upon your child’s return to school, indicating they are fit to resume classes.

Hygiene Practices

  • Hand Hygiene: Teach your child the importance of regular handwashing with soap and water, especially before eating and after using the restroom. Hand sanitizers should also be used when handwashing is not possible.
  • Personal Hygiene: Encourage daily practices of personal hygiene, including bathing, brushing teeth, and wearing clean clothes. Ensure your child understands the importance of covering their mouth and nose with a tissue or elbow when coughing or sneezing.

Medication Policies

  • Medication Administration: If your child requires medication during school hours, please provide a written authorization from a healthcare provider along with detailed instructions. All medications must be submitted to the school nurse for proper administration.
  • Emergency Medication: For students with conditions such as asthma or severe allergies, ensure that emergency medications (e.g., inhalers, EpiPens) are available at school and that the school staff is informed about their use.

Mental Health and Well-being

  • Emotional Support: Pay attention to your child’s emotional and mental health. Encourage open communication and provide support if they are experiencing stress or anxiety. Inform the school counselor if your child needs additional support.
  • Healthy Sleep Habits: Ensure your child gets adequate sleep each night. A well-rested child is more attentive, better able to learn, and generally healthier.

Physical Activity

  • Regular Exercise: Encourage your child to participate in regular physical activities, both at school and home. Physical activity is essential for maintaining overall health and well-being.
  • Safety in Sports: Provide appropriate sports equipment and attire for your child to ensure their safety during physical activities and sports. Inform the school of any physical limitations or conditions that might affect your child's participation in physical activities.

By following these health guidelines, parents can significantly contribute to the overall well-being of their children and help create a healthy school environment. Together, we can ensure that all students at S.B.P.M. are healthy, safe, and ready to learn.
